[Grocery retail]

The French Competition Authority has just announced that, for the first time, it is opening a competitive assessment of the buying alliances AURA (Intermarché, Auchan Retail and Groupe Casino) and CONCORDIS (Carrefour, Coopérative U and the German retail group RTG), to determine whether the economic progress these alliances bring outweighs any harm to competition they may cause:

  • on the upstream and downstream markets for the supply of consumer goods;
  • on the end consumer.

Rive Gauche Avocats can assist you if you wish to submit observations on how these alliances operate and/or their effects on the French grocery retail market. The timetable is: 6 March 2026 for the “AURA” agreement; 31 July 2026 for “CONCORDIS”.
